Slovak professional golfer Tadeáš Teddy Teťák dominated the Riedhof Open 2023 tournament, which took place on May 29-31 at the Golfclub München-Riedhof. This is Teddy's first winning tournament as a professional. In the 3rd round, he gave the best performance of the entire starting final field, when he played 7 birdies and 11 pars and recorded a total score of -13/203. He won the tournament with a lead of 4 shots. Teddy Teťák has been among the best since the beginning of the Riedhof Open tournament. After the first round, he was eighth, after the second, third. After the tournament, he told the media that it was a great feeling. But also that he had worked a lot on himself in the last three weeks and it paid off. And he also hopes that things will get better and better by the end of the season and that this victory is just one of many. " said Teddy after his great success.

Teddy, big congratulations on your first professional victory. What were your expectations going into the Riedhof Open after a month of tournament absence and a 35th place finish at the Haugschlag NÖ Open, your worst finish this year?
I go into every tournament wanting to achieve the best possible result and I always have the ambition to win. My performances have been consistent over the long term and I knew that I had what it took to win if I played patiently.

You had consistent performances throughout the tournament - didn't two bogeys on the last two holes of the second round slow you down?
They didn't slow me down, but they "made me really angry" because I lost concentration for a moment at the end of the round and made two bogeys. On the other hand, I was better at attacking when I didn't play the third round in the last flight.

It was great and very exciting to watch your 3rd round via livescore. When did you start to believe that you could win the tournament?
When I made my third birdie of the round on the 8th hole and then more and more media started to circle around us, I assumed I was on the right track. My flight partner, who was second by a stroke, had three great par saves on holes 10-12, but I scored twice and I already believed that if nothing extraordinary happened, it could be a victory.

With victory comes emotions that not everyone can process in a way that will allow them to be successful in the next tournament. When do you play the next tournament and what do you want/need to work on the most in practice sessions ?
I'm playing the Challenge tour in Spain next week. You can also see my current schedule and tournament schedule at www.tadeastetak.com. I've practiced enough, I don't need special preparation. I just need to maintain consistency, which isn't always easy.

You entered the season with some expectations. Were they met? What would satisfy you for the rest of the season, what are your goals?
I can tell you whether my expectations were met at the end of the season. My goal is to finish fifth in the ProGolfTour rankings at the end of the year and thus get a playing card for the Challenge Tour for the next season and then fight my way through to the DP World Tour. My goals are not easy to achieve, players from far more traditional golfing countries have similar ambitions, of which there are many and they have great support from their federations, both financial and mental.

Is the course at Golfclub München-Riedhof your most favorite after this tournament?
It was nice, there was no tournament course in better condition this season. I will have fond memories of Riedhof GC and I will definitely like it, since I won my first PRO tournament there.

Is the 3rd round of the Riedhof Open 2023 your best round in tournaments?
No. I have played a score of 8 under par several times in the tournament. However, with the result of the 3rd round of 7 under par, I set a new record for the Riedhof course.

How much time do you spend training on average per day? Not only on the course, but also in the gym. How much time do you devote to regeneration, do you also have time for any additional sports?
When I'm not playing tournaments, I practice at least 2 hours a day with fitness trainers, I'm on the course for 4-5 hours, and I have physiotherapy 2-3 times a week. There's no time for additional sports.

Is the PGA Tour your long-term goal?
Yes, the long-term goal is to make it to the DP World Tour and later to the PGA Tour.

We thank Teddy Teťák for his time and we will keep our fingers crossed for him, not only at this week's tournament in Spain, but also in his future career. Teddy, congratulations again on your first PRO victory.Foto: Stefan Heigl – Golfclub München-Riedhof
