Slovak golf pro Tadeáš Teťák has had a great tournament on the DP World Tour. He finished tied for 16th at the Hainan Classic in China, and could have finished even better if it weren't for a worse second round. Englishman Marco Penge is celebrating his first victory on the circuit in China, winning by three shots with a score of -17.
After the first round with a 67 (-5), Teťák was in the top ten, from which he unfortunately dropped out after the second round with a 73. He then attacked the TOP 10 over the weekend and could still think about it at the end of the final round, but in the end he had to settle for a tied sixteenth place.
He struggled through the opening eleven holes on Sunday and was one over after them, making a single birdie on 6, followed by two losses on holes 7 and 11. But he then recovered on the popular par-five 12th, where he birdied all four rounds, and followed that up with two more birdies on holes 13 and 16.
At that point, he was two under for the round and -9 overall for the tournament. If he had improved on the final two holes in the morning, he would have slipped into the top 10 at the last minute. Instead, he made his third bogey of the day on 17 and suffered a final slight upset in the top 10.
Teťák made his third cut on the DP World Tour this week from three tournaments he has entered this season. His best result so far is still a tied 13th place in Kenya.
The paradox is that so far on the DP World Tour he has been doing well in his occasional starts, but on the lower HotelPlanner Tour, for which he has a full card, he is not so famous. Out of six starts, he made the cut in only half of them and earned a little over 6,000 euros. On the DP World Tour he has three out of three and earned more than 70,000 euros. There were 29,763 of them this week.
