Golf: Tadeáš Teťák did it. Slovakia will have a player on the elite DP World Tour for the first time in history.

He managed to earn a card for the DP World Tour 2025, the main European professional golf tour. For the first time in history, Slovak golf will have a player regularly appearing on the elite DP World Tour.

The twenty-four-year-old Teťák first successfully made the cut in Tarragona, securing a full card on the Challenge Tour. He eventually finished eighteenth with a total score of 410, 18 under par. His best performance came in the fourth round, in which he played 18 holes for 65 strokes (-6). He scored seven birdies in it. The second Slovak golfer, Jakub Hrinda, finished in 135th place with a score of 287/+1. The winner was the Italian Edoardo Molinari (399/-29).

The final tournament of the DP World Tour Qualifying School 2024 was played at the Infinitum Golf Resort in Tarragona on two courses, the Lakes Course and the Hills Course. A total of 156 players started, and the tournament was played over 6 rounds. The cut was after 4 rounds (72 holes).

A minimum score of -7 was required to make the cut, and 83 players advanced to the final two rounds. The sixth round was played a day later than originally planned due to weather problems. The tournament decided on the holders of 20 cards for the DP World Tour 2025. In the end, 22 were awarded, as four players, including Teťák, finished in 18th place.

"I still can't believe what happened. This year I won cards for all three tours (Pro Golf Tour, Challenge Tour and DP World Tour, note). After the 72-hole cut, I knew that two great rounds would move me onto the DP World Tour and I did," said Teťák for the website golfextra.cz.

"I started off great today. I made two birdies right at the start, that calmed me down, and then I played my game. It's great for Slovak golf too. It shows the kids that it can be done, that if they work, they will succeed," he added.

The DP World Tour, formerly known as the European Tour, is the leading men's professional golf tour in Europe. Its new season begins next week with the BMW Australian PGA Championship in Brisbane.
